Benedict Cumberbatch will be debuting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with “Doctor Strange” as the Sorcerer Supreme. With powers second to none, the sorcerer will have the sole responsibility of being Earth’s guardian from every possible threat.
Given that Thanos will be invading Earth in “Avengers: Infinity War” in search of the remaining Infinity stones, the Avengers will probably need the Sorcerer Supreme to help them stop the Mad Titan. With the kind of powers that the Sorcerer Supreme possesses, he will prove to be more than an asset to the team.
Sorcerer Supreme has fought and even beat major supervillains who at one point of time had God-like powers. Going by this kind of experience, he could lend a special hand in the fight against Thanos. In a scenario where the Avengers will be dividing themselves in groups to take down Thanos, Doctor Strange could lead a team of cosmic superheroes including Thor, Valkyrie, Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Given his knowledge of alternate dimensions, he could access a portal where there is no escape route and throw Thanos in it. If other heroes engage themselves in a fight against the Mad Titan, that would buy Doctor Strange enough time to open a portal, snatch the infinity gauntlet and throw Thanos in it.
He could also act as a mentor to other superheroes like Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, Spider-Man and whoever else decides to join the war against Thanos. If Loki also ends up being a part of “Avengers: Infinity War,” Sorcerer Supreme would definitely keep a watch on the God of Mischief because chances are he will further want to create a new conflict of his own.
More than Stephen’s power and presence, it would be his knowledge, which would really benefit the Avengers side. Combine his knowledge with Tony’s technology, Captain’s shield, Thor’s hammer and Hulk’s brute force and the world will see a power never seen before.
Meanwhile, ComicBookMovie.com reported that “Doctor Strange” star Mads Mikkelsen stated that the upcoming movie would have humor in it, which the trailer did not quite touch up on. Keeping in sync with Marvel’s tradition, the movie will have a combination of everything from seriousness to light-hearted moments.
“Doctor Strange” will be released on Nov. 4.
