Fans saw Mads Mikkelsen wreck havoc in Bond’s life back in “Casino Royale,” then he surprised everyone with his spectacular performance as Forensic Psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter who had quite the unusual taste. This time around, the actor has given his fans more reasons to rejoice as he joins the cast of a major movie. Read on for more details.
According to Movie Pilot, if playing an evil character or a villain was not enough, Mikkelsen intends to do the same in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
The actor is currently in negotiations to join the cast that already the “Sherlock” star, “12 Years a Slave” star Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton. If reports are to be believed then Mads will be playing another villain in the movie, which only increases the pressure for Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The name of his character has not been announced yet, but it can be assumed he will team up with Chiwetel’s Baron Mordo to perish their common enemy Doctor Strange.
This is not the first time that Mikkelsen was offered a role by the studio; Marvel has approached the actor for a role. Earlier too they had approached him for a role in “Thor,” which did not really materialize.
Youth Health Magazine reported that Cumberbatch was not the first choice to play the role of Doctor Strange and it was initially offered to Joaquin Pheonix. The actor also stated the reason for not taking up the role. According to him, after having met for many meetings, it never really felt that they would be fulfilling. Doctor Strange is the story of a neurosurgeon who after having his hands injured is unable to continue his career as a surgeon. After being turned down initially, Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme The Ancient One agrees to help him and teaches him everything there is to know about sorcery and magic.
“Doctor Strange” will release on Nov. 4, 2015.
