“Doctor Strange” with its epic cast and a comic plot different from any other Marvel superhero has fans aching to know more about the movie. While the film makers will be looking to preserve the essence of The Sorcerer Supreme, making sure that the movie is exploring alternate dimensions does not veer into the nonsensical.
ComingSoon.net reported the synopsis released by Marvel is as follows: “Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.”
The synopsis though reveals little or no details and is keeping the mystery surrounding the movie intact. The comic series incorporated huge amounts of Eastern mysticism and psychedelia. It remains to be seen how much of the same will be utilized by Director Scott Derrikson for “Doctor Strange,” protector of Earth from dark forces.
Epic Stream reported that “Doctor Strange” star Scott Adkins also said that the film will feature horror elements. “I’m looking forward to see how the metaphysical elements will create a unique experience on the big screen.”
Speculation is still rife about the villain actor Mads Mikkelsen will be playing. Most fans believe that he will be donning the role of Shuma Gorath, the giant eight-legged Octopus and believed to be immortal. In the comics, it was Gorth, who forces “Doctor Strange” to kill his Master, the Ancient One as Gorath takes over the mind of Ancient One.
There is much excitement about seeing Benedict Cumberbatch as “Doctor Strange” armed with the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamotto and his sidekick Wong (Benedict Wong) fight black magic.
