Now that we’ve seen how everyone’s favorite “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch is going to look like in “Doctor Strange,” its time to take a look at his adversary who also happens to be the Sorcerer Supreme’s prime enemy. The first look of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo has also been revealed when the British actor was seen walking on the sets with Benedict.
According to Coming Soon, just about three days back the first look of Benedict Cumberbatch shook Twitter when the suave actor was seen sporting long locks and a full mustache and bearded look while walking on the sets in Nepal. Initially, a mysterious figure was seen following Benedict’s character Dr. Stephen Strange. This mysterious person was wearing a black hood and his face was hidden, turns out it was none other than Academy award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor who was also present on the sets and was required to be hidden in the shot.
As we all know Chiwetel is playing the role of Baron Mordo who tries to kill Dr. Strange’s teacher Ancient One only to later to be saved by Stephen, and thus becoming his known enemy. According to updates, “Doctor Strange” will see Chiwetel playing a slight different version of Baron Mordo, as his character will have elements from other prominent villains too.
Given this detail, there are chances that the scene both Benedict and Chiwetel were shooting for will not see the latter immediately revealing himself as the evil Baron Mordo but would rather be a normal person in front of Stephen and eventually after having befriended him will show his true colors.
In the comic books, Mordo was also a student of the Ancient One and tried to kill him but since Stephen in the pretext of saving the Ancient One showed that he is the good guy got to be Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. This incident made Mordo swear enmity with Stephen for the rest of the story and they eventually became archenemies.
Collider added that in the movie, Tilda Swinton will be playing the role of Ancient One and Stephen will be visiting her looking for a cure for his broken hands. Since Stephen blows up all of his saving trying to find a cure, he ends up penniless and, hence, sports a rather roughed up look.
As far as Benedict Cumberbatch is concerned, no matter what look he chooses, he still looks charming as fans are going crazy over his looks. “Doctor Strange” also stars Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton in lead roles.
It will release next year on November 4th.
