“Downton Abbey” has just released their official 60-minute trailer to tease fans on what’s to come on the fifth season of the costume drama, which will take place in 1924. In Season 5 of the show, they used the election of Britain’s first Labour government as their political backdrop. Read on to learn more about the trailer.
In the trailer, we heard Mrs Hughes saying that “’Downton is catching up with the times that we live in.” The trailer was fast, but it was loaded with a lot of hot and steamy nights at the mansion’s bedrooms. We were given glimpses of Jimmy with a brunette, while Lady Mary was busy with her suitor, Tony, who we think has finally won her heart.
The trailer opened with the Earl of Grantham sharing his feelings. “This government is committed to the destruction of people like us and everything we stand for,” he warned. Aside from him, a very worried Carson also thought about the cons of having a socialist government.
Aside from that, Tom Branson got his hands full with children. The trailer also showed a glimpse on several new cast members including Richard E. Grant and Anna Chancellor.
“Downton Abbey” returns on Sept. 21, 2014 on ITV.
