Michelle Dockery did not announce that Downton Abbey Season 7 is happening. However, the actress predicted that the British-American historical period drama series may be resurrected by a movie spinoff in the future.
“I think there is potential for a film,” Dockery told Telegraph. “That is something I would wholeheartedly consider, so we will see. It may not be over yet.”
From 2010 to 2015, Dockery played Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey. The actress was one of the 13 main cast members featured in all of the six seasons of the series aired on PBS and ITV.
The other main cast members were Joanne Froggatt, Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, Rob James-Collier, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Leslie Nicol, Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton. Their respective characters were Anna Bates, Robert Crawley, Lady Edith Crawley, Charles Carson, John Bates, Thomas Barrow, Elsie Hughes, Cora Crawley, Daisy Mason, Beryl Patmore, Violet Crawley and Isobel Crawley.
According to Dockery, the thing that she misses the most is being with her fellow Downton Abbey cast members. However, she clarified that she and her former co-stars are still very close.
Dockery described her years as a Downton Abbey actress as an incredible journey. While they were very sad to say goodbye to the show, it was the right time to do so and it was very exciting going on to a whole new path in her career.
After Downton Abbey, Dockery is returning to the small screen in an upcoming show titled Good Behavior. Set to premiere on Nov. 15, the TNT drama series based on Blake Crouch’s novella series about con artist Letty Dobesh will also star Terry Kinney, Luisa Strus and Juan Diego Botto.
On the big screen, Dockery will star in the drama film The Sense of an Ending. Her co-stars include Charlotte Rampling, Emily Mortimer, Jim Broadbent, Freya Mavor, Harriet Walter, Joe Alwyn, Edward Holcroft, Billy Howle, Nick Mohammed and James Wilby, among others.
