Is it time to say goodbye to ITV’s period drama? “Downton Abbey” has been confirmed for its sixth season but it may just be its last. Read on for more details.
According to Variety, PBS and ITV haven’t confirmed yet if “Downton Abbey” Season 6 would be its last. But, there have been a lot of clues all over the Internet that clearly suggest that the show’s ending. The reason behind such speculations is because when the show got renewed the cast’s contracts only suggested that it is only until the sixth season of the show.
To add to that, most of the team of “Downton Abbey” are ready to move on to other new projects on TV and in movies. In fact, many of the show’s cast members would leave the show if it still proceeds for a seventh season. There was also Maggie Smith’s statement .“They say this is the last one, and I can’t see how it could go on. I mean, I certainly can’t keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We’re into the late 1920s,” she said.

The ratings of the “Downton Abbey, ” Season 5 may have slipped a bit, but the show remains popular.
And in the world of “Downton Abbey,” it is the period wherein the changes are greatly felt by everyone. It’s decision to end with its sixth season would just be the sensible thing to do, even though it’s sad because the Crawleys have been a part of the fans’ lives. Still, these are great changes for the better.
