Watch the Jackie Chan and John Cusack for the trailer of their upcoming historical fiction action epic “Dragon Blade.” In "Dragon Blade," Chan will play as Huo An, the commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions during the Han Dynasty, framed and enslaved by the evil forces lurking within the kingdom he protects. An teams up with the unlikely Lucius, played by Cusack, a Roman general who escapes into China after rescuing the Prince. The heroic duo meet in the Western Desert and a thrilling story unfolds.
Chan and Cusack will be joined by Adrien Brody, who plays Tiberius, Lorie Pester, Choi Siwon, Lin Peng, Amanda Wang, Vanness Wu and Jozef Waite as the Prince. Dragon Blade is directed by director Daniel Lee, who has directed films like "Black Mask," "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon" and "14 Blades." Principal photography for "Dragon Blade" started on April 15, 2014 in Hengdian, China with some battle scenes.
"Dragon Blade" is filmed at a budget of US$65 million, a record-breaking budget for a Chinese film. The budget of the film is financed by Sparkle Roll Media Corporation, Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, Shanghai Film Group, Home Media & Entertainment Fund, Tencent Video and Beijing Cultural Assets Chinese Film and Television Fund.
“Dragon Blade” is set for an IMAX 3D release on Feb. 19, 2015, the first day of the Chinese New Year holiday period, and the first day of the Year of the Goat. International distribution of the film outside of China will be handled by Golden Network Asia.
“IMAX has been at the forefront of the cinema industry in China for the last 15 years, and with a growing network and the addition of more locally produced films, we expect to help continue to grow the entertainment ecosystem in that country for all parties involved,” said IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond in a statement.
