The sports community has witnessed what was named as one of the most shocking upset in tennis history when an iconic athlete succumbed to an unseeded athlete. Serena Williams lost to Roberta Vinci in the semifinals round of the US Open.

According to Sports NDTV, what added more to the huge and unforeseen upset is the convincing win by Vinci in three sets with scores at 2-6,6-4,6-4. This put a stop to the scorching hot winning streak of the superstar tennis in the US Open at 33 matches and her Grand Slam streak at 27 matches. She could have been one of the few athletes to achieve four Grand Slam titles in just a year.

Fans immediately pointed out to a possible reason for this lost: Williams’ alleged boyfriend, Drake. Was he a distraction to the great career of this beloved lady player in the world of tennis? Apparently, fans are blaming him for becoming the jinx to her semifinals match.

Stuff.co.nz shared in their article that the rapper has a history of being an alleged ‘bad luck’ to the Toronto Raptors way back in 2013. He was then their global ambassador and the team was trampled that season.

But it seems like Williams doesn’t mind it at all since they were spotted happily in love with each other. IB Times UK reported they shared an intimate date over a dinner last Aug. 23 in Cincinnati. The article also stated many witnesses claimed this is true as the “Young Money” star was seen publicly kissing her in their other date.

To add up to this sweet unconfirmed report of their relationship, Drake’s song “Hold On, We’re Going Home” was repeatedly played when the tennis queen competed in the US Open held at Flushing Meadows in New York. He was seen excitedly cheering for her from the stands.

With her love interest in Drake as her no.1 cheerleader, Serena Williams might have felt victorious, too, even without the title. Let’s see where their speculated relationship will take them as time passes.
