Ed Sheeran’s songs always hits home but in one of his concerts he did something that tugged at the heartstrings.

In his Saskatoon concert in Canada on Tuesday night, Sheeran helped a fan of his propose to his girlfriend who has a terminal brain cancer. Paolo Benitez finally asked Tanya Prochshyn to marry him.

“My girlfriend is a big fan of his… I tried everything on Sunday to find tickets to make this day a special day for her, “ Benitez said.

Come Monday, he met Sheeran at a private event and had the opportunity to tell the singer about his girlfriend and how Tanya would have surgery on Wednesday to remove part of her brain tumor. However, the tumor won’t be totally taken out because it is lodged in her brain making Tanya only have four or five years to live. He told Sheeran that he wants to propose to his girlfriend at his concert and of course, the singer agreed.

Sheeran got him into the show and when he was performing “Thinking Out Loud” it was Benitez’s cue to drop on one knee and ask Tanya to marry him.

Canadian radio station C95 also heard about the story and they shared Pablo and Tanya’s story online. It turns out that Tanya only learned that she has brain tumor three weeks ago yet the tumor has been growing for 8 years already.

And as for Sheeran, he really has a good heart, which makes him truly an awesome person!
