Rumors are circulating that Ed Sheeran will be taking a hiatus, (nine months to be specific), as reported by IB Times. What could have made the singer decide to do so? Read on to know more.
Sheeran reportedly want to spend his time volunteering at the Sue Ryder shop in his local town, Suffolk. The “Thinking Out Loud” hit maker is also in primary consultations in arranging to set up a youth center in Framlingham. He was raised here and highlighted the significance of properly guiding children as they grow up. He also shared that the main reason why he got into music was because of a youth club.
According to Jacqui Bell, manager of Sue Ryder, “There’s a good possibility he will volunteer here. We’d welcome him. My volunteers, who are aged between 61 and 91, know Ed because he was brought up in the town. They would be fine working with him. He purchased the old police station to open up a youth club for £1 million, so he’ll also be helping there when it’s up and running. I think he will draw the youngsters into our shop which would be good for us.”
Philanthropy seems to be in Sheeran’s blood, as he has been involved in various charitable activities in the past years. He has raised money for local associations by giving away his wardrobe. Earlier this year, an auction was held for an outfit he used in the Grammys.
Sheeran took to Twitter to explain and said, “Given my whole wardrobe to a bunch of charity shops. All stuff worn on shoots, videos and live. Stuff ranging from the Ralph hoodies, Fenchurch T-shirts and Nike trainers.” The beneficiary for this activity was another charity shop in Sheeran’s hometown, the Elizabeth Hospice. They were given eight articles that the singer used that night.
According to the NZ Herald, Sheeran has prepared a social media post and said, “I’ll put a post out saying, ‘I’m with friends and family – if you love me you’ll allow me to disappear for a few months and I’ll speak to you in a bit’. I think a break for me is coming off my phone, social media and emails. “I am constantly on my phone, texting, replying to emails, on Twitter, on Snapchat, on Facebook. I just want to get off it and live and drive to places and listen to music and have normal conversations with people and get back to normality. I’ve got a packed schedule, then, when December 12 comes, it’s done.”
Sheeran has been having an amazing and hectic year, so far. With no less than two number one singles and two Brit Awards, as well as at the premiere of his concert movie, “Jumpers for Goalposts”; guess a break is definitely needed to balance things out.
