It has not been a year since Ed Sheeran released his album “X” and it has not been that long since his song “Thinking Out Loud” swept the entire world. Now, the 24-year-old singer has announced that he will be releasing a new album entitled, “5,” which comes out in a week. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
Ed Sheeran is no doubt one of the most successful singer and songwriter of his generation. Following the huge success of his hit singles, “Thinking Out Loud,” “Lego House,” and “Give Me Love,” the Brit singer is following his album “X” with a new album entitled “5.”
On April 30, the “I See Fire” crooner teased fans via Twitter about his upcoming album and wrote: “’5’ comes out on the 5th of May worldwide.” While some fans were left disappointed after the day has passed without hearing any news about Sheeran’s new album, the singer-songwriter posted yet another teaser photo on his Instagram account. The photo seemed to hint on the album artwork and said: “’5’ comes out worldwide in 1 week, 5/12. Sorry for the mix up.”
While details about the tracks in Sheeran’s new album are still unknown, Music Times noted that some fans speculated that the new LP will be a re-release of some of his self-released songs between 2009 and 2011 such as “You Need Me,” “Live at the Bedford,” “Loose Change,” “Songs I Wrote with Amy,” and “No. 5 Collaborations Project.”
BBC News reported that Sheeran’s “X” album recently reached 2 million sales, which makes him the fifth artist to break the records next to Adele, Emeli Sande, Take That and Michael Buble.
Meanwhile, Sheeran recently sold out his tour in the Australian leg of his concert held at the Melbourne Stadium. According to The Music, Sheeran’s concert on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Melbourne Stadium immediately sold out 30,000 tickets following the crooner’s announcement that he will be singing alongside Foy Vance, Rudimental, and Passenger. Due to the increasing demand for more tickets, a new concert date has been opened and will be held at AAMI Park on Sunday, Dec. 6.
