Believe it or not, it has actually been 14 years since Reese Witherspoon first played Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde”. The quintessential blonde who turned out to be quite the opposite of what every one expected her to be, might actually be back for a third serving. Read on for more details.
We all met Woods for the first time as the president of Delta Nu sorority, who wanted to pass Harvard Law School with the sole intent of getting the love of her life back. As fate decided that Woods can actually be a real lawyer and you know, help people and stuff—her unexpected adventure had just begun.
The first “Legally Blonde” movie was followed by, sorry for this Elle, a terribly received sequel, where Woods was assigned in Congress—well, maybe it’s time to take on The White House?
Did you think a series with an estimated US$266 million box office value would be left without another run at your wallet heart? Not if Witherspoon gets her way. (via stuff.co.nz)
“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately. A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it.” she said.
“I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women. And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office … President? I mean, yeah.” Witherspoon added.
As “Legally Blonde” propelled the 39-year-old’s voyage to becoming a household name, “Sweet Home Alabama” followed the next year, and was trailed by closely 20 more films, including “Walk the Line”, “Water for Elephants”, and “Wild”.
Witherspoon turned out to be a producer, philanthropist, and, just this year—an entrepreneur. She is opening a lifestyle store called Draper James.
Witherspoon did not spill if this interview is confirming that a third installment for “Legally Blonde” is definitely in the works or she is just personally stating how she feels. “I don’t know. Call MGM. I have no idea.”

Whatever the case, fans are eagerly waiting for Elle Woods to return, as she is and will always be an inspiration for a lot of women. Bend and snap!
