Sir Elton John and longtime partner Sir David Furnish are set to officially marry this weekend, following the legalization of same-sex marriage in Britain.
The singer's spokesman, Gary Farrow, said that the weekend ceremony will be private.
"We'll do it very quietly. But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children," John previously told Today.
The couple is also overjoyed with the progress of Britain in accepting the LGBT community.
“I'm very proud of Britain and the laws that we've seen come into existence since we've been together… So for this legislation to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married.' We will get married," John added.
John and Furnish were among the first couples in Britain to seal a civil partnership when it was introduced in 2005. They have two children, Zachary and Elijah. Their wedding was reportedly a lavish $2 million ceremony with star-studded guests, such as Victoria Beckham and Ringo Starr.
Furnish has been very vocal about their wedding ceremony in May 2015.
However, due to some exciting unforeseen turn of events, rumors say that John and Furnish are actually saying their vows before the New Year.
