Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke is ready to fight cyborgs as she has signed on to play the part of Sarah Connor in Paramount’s “Terminator” reboot, EW reports.
According to Deadline, the studio was also interested in Short Term 12‘s Brie Larson and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie for the part as well, but but Game of Thrones star was the early favorite.
The key role of Sarah Connor was originated by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron’s The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and it was also portrayed by Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) in Fox’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which aired for two seasons.
Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke is in negotiations to play the iconic part of John Connor, the son of Sarah Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also expected to make a come back in the film.
Besides this, the names of Garrett Hedlund, Nicholas Hoult and Boyd Holbrook are being considered to cast for Kyle Reese, who was played by Michael Biehn in the original movie.
The film is a joint project of Paramount, Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake are exec producing with David Ellison producing for Skydance and sibling Megan Ellison producing for Annapurna.
“Thor: the Dark World” helmer Alan Taylor is directing the film, which is co-written by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry).
The “Terminator” reboot is already set for a July 1, 2015 release date.
