Emma Stone would be starring in Fox Searchlight’s “Battle Of The Sexes” and it has been confirmed. She would be playing role of Billie Jean King in the movie. “Battle Of The Sexes” is a film revolving around gender battle tennis match. Read to find more insights!
The 27-year-old Stone had been thinking about signing the film, “Battle Of The Sexes” for quite some time, Variety reports. She had been the top contender but due to her busy schedule she could not say yes to the film before. Due to Stone’s reluctance to be part of the film, Fox Searchlight had also started thinking about casting Brie Larson, 26 for the role of ‘King’.
A source has told Variety lately that finally Stone has closed the deal. “Battle Of The Sexes” would have Stone and not Larson in the role of ‘King’. The news is Larson has decided to opt for Lionsgate’s “The Glass Castle” lately. Variety has also reported that 53-year-old Steve Carell would play the role of ‘Bobby Riggs’ in the movie.
According to Deadline, “Battle Of The Sexes” would be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris while the script would be delivered by Simon Beaufoy. The movie would be produced by Danny Boyle under Decibel Films banner. The other bigwigs to associate with the movie are no doubt Christian Colson through his company Cloud Eight.

According to ZNews, “Battle Of The Sexes” would have to compete with other projects, which follow the story of notorious tennis match. “Proof” casts Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks. It is a HBO and Playtone’s project. “Match Maker”, which is a Chernin Entertainment and Gary Sanchez’s project, stars Will Ferrell in the role of Riggs.
