Marvel introduces Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll are joining the cast of the upcoming film, “Ant-Man.” Read further for more details about the story.
In a panel on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H, Marvel has made huge announcements about the upcoming superhero film, “Ant-Man,” which has gone through a lot of changes this year. According to Deadline, along with the “Ant-Man” cast, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll were introduced onstage as two of its newest additions. Lilly will be playing the role of Hope Van Dyne, daughter to the first Ant-Man, Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas. Meanwhile, Corey Stoll will be playing central villain, Darren Cross or Yellow Jacket.
Lilly was at first introduced as “Hope Van Dyne” instead of Hope Pym, which caused confusion to some fans. Hope Pym was the daughter to Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, known for their super hero alter-egos, Ant-Man and The Wasp. Both of which have size-altering powers. Another alteration to the movie with regards to the comic book’s storyline is the origin of the character Yellow Jacket. In the comics, Yellow Jacket was born due to the result of a nervous breakdown that made Pym lose his mind and abuse his wife. These changes are due to scripting modifications made between Wright’s version and the studio’s later revisions.
During the panel, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentioned that the film’s production will start by Aug. 18, 2014 in Atlanta, afterwards showing a clip from the film. In the footage, Rudd in the Ant-Man suit jumps on a flying insect that Hank Pym tells him to control.
Within the film, Pym (Douglas) will be passing the suit and his research to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), to which Pym’s partner, played by Stoll, will be involved in.
Marvel’s “Ant-Man” is an upcoming superhero film based on the comic book characters of the same name — Scott Lang and Hank Pym. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The film features an ensemble cast including Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, the first Ant-Man; Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man; Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Pym’s daughter; and Corey Stoll as antagonist Darren Cross a.k.a. the Yellow Jacket. Peyton Reed is set to direct the film. “Ant-Man” will be released on July 17, 2015.
