Ex-Baghdad: Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan Team Up For The First Time

Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan are two of the biggest action stars in the world. While both of them have individually worked on really amazing action movies, the two have never been seen together in a movie.

However, that will be changing soon as both the veteran action stars have signed to a movie, putting them together on the big screen.

Deadline reported that both Stallone and Chan will be starring in an action-thriller called Ex-Baghdad. The movie has a generous budget of $80 million and will be pairing the two veteran stars for the first time.

Need for Speed and Act of Valor director Scott Waugh will be helming the movie. Since he also happens to be an experienced stuntman, fans can expect to see well-executed action.

Chan will also be producing the movie along with Qi Jianhong and Esmond Ren. Chan’s production company SR Media along with Talent International is also financing the movie.

From what is known, both the action stars are portraying strong characters as they team up for the first time to take down common enemies.

Respective franchises

Screen Rant reported that in the movie business, both Stallone and Chan are known to have been part of some of the biggest action franchises. Stallone has been known for series like Rocky, Rambo and The Expendables.

Chan, on the other hand, has been known for Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon and many other movies. The two coming together is indeed a treat for fans as Stallone has worked with almost every other action star on the planet because of The Expendables series.

Since it was recently reported that Stallone has quit the franchise, this will be his first major action project following the exit.

Other collaborations

As mentioned, the two have never collaborated on any project but back when Stallone was co-writing The Expendables 3, there were some reports that he was considering roping in Chan for a role.

Since he has already worked with the likes of Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many others, Chan was the only remaining action hero.

However, that did not materialize. Following those rumors, another set of rumors surfaced saying that Stallone was looking to include Chan, Pierce Brosnan and Hulk Hogan for the fourth installment but that also did not work out.

Now with Stallone and Chan working together, there obviously will be some expectations from the movie. As far as action is concerned, fans can expect Chan’s incredible stunts combined with Stallone’s raw power.

Also considering that Waugh is directing the movie, there could be some never before seen stunts that will surely amaze fans everywhere.

Other elements like on-screen chemistry will also be intriguing to see because both Stallone and Chan are known to work well with their co-stars.

According to Deadline’s report, the movie is set in Mosul, Iraq and revolves around a China-owned oil refinery.

Chan’s character is that of a private security contractor who is called in to extract the workers there when things start to turn bad. However, upon reaching there, he comes to know of the attackers’ real plan.

They plan to steal the oil and make a fortune. To stop this from happening, Chan’s character teams up with Stallone who is playing a former Marine. With the two teaming up, it remains to be seen if they are successful in their mission or not.

Release date

No official release date has been made available yet but when the movie releases, it will certainly be worth watching.
