Extreme action packed franchise comprising of the Gods of action like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Harrison Ford amongst others, are all set to return for a fourth run at the box office and there’s nothing better than sealing a deal even before the movie starts shooting.
According to Coming Soon, producers of “The Expendables” franchise Nu Image and Millennium have signed a Pre-Sale deal with SP International Pictures on behalf of SSXH Beijing and Max Screen Film Distribution to bring “The Expendables 4” on screen.
According to recent reports, “The Expendables 4” will start shooting next year with a 2017 release date in mind. Reports also suggested that Hulk Hogan has been in talks with good friend Sylvester Stallone for the role of the chief antagonist in the upcoming installment. He spoke on the issue earlier and mentioned that they will hopefully find someone in Hollywood to do the jumping and running for him.
Variety added that apart from “The Expendables 4,” Antonio Banderas starrer “Security” has also been added to this Pre-Sale deal. As we speak, “Security” has begun production at Nu Image Studios. The deal will cover equity investments in both the films and help with providing Chinese distribution rights.
It is also being said that both the movies will partly use China as locations for their shoot but since there are not enough Chinese elements, it wouldn’t make the Chinese companies full co-producers on the projects.
“The Expendables 4” is set on a $100 million budget and will see a similar action packed cast like the previous three movies of the upcoming installment. On the other hand “Security” has been set on a $15 million budget. Despite “The Expendables 3” performing below expectations majorly because of a pristine DVD copy of the movie was leaked weeks before the official release, another installment was always in the works. It remains to be seen what different does “The Expendables 4” bring on-screen.
