“Extant” Season 1 Episode 3 “Wish You Were Here” aired on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. Read on to learn more about Movie News Guide’s (MNG) “Extant” recap of Episode 3 “Wish You Were Here.” Plus, a sneak peek of Episode 4 “Shelter.”
Previously on “Extinct,” a lot of things happened in the lives of the Woods family. Ethan (Pierre Gagnon) celebrated his birthday at the Museum of National History. Molly (Halle Berry) and John (Goran Visnjic) struggled with the changes that happened after Molly’s arrival.
In “Wish You Were Here,” the episode started with the accident that has killed Molly’s ex-boyfriend, Marcus (Sergio Harford), and their future child. It also made Molly infertile, which was solved by John. She went to several failed fertility tests before but to no avail. To end this, John built Ethan, the start of his humanoid project.
Alan Sparks (Michael O’Neill) previously learned that Sam (Camryn Manheim) had made an unauthorized check-up with Molly’s pregnancy. It was held inside a undisclosed veterinary clinic. Alan told her about the ISEA experiment that involved the use of her specimen from her fertility sessions. He said that they were able to reverse her infertility. That’s why she was now pregnant.
Ethan, on the other hand, was bullied again by the parents at his school. Molly came right on time to save him. Ethan also continued to showcase his “bad robot” side. He got scolded by John when he broke several house rules in one day. The kid went outside and even trapped a dove in a makeshift cage made out of household items.
Meanwhile, John had prepared a party for Molly’s successful homecoming. He taught his son a lesson, but the kid spilled about his mother’s “secrets.” John went to confront his wife. Molly confessed that she got pregnant because of some ISEA project, according to Sparks. Molly was surprised that John was happy with the news.
The gathering continued to be a success. Molly met again with Tim, Marcus’ brother. It was the first time they saw each other since the car accident. Their talk about his dead brother ended awkwardly. Molly managed to keep it together when they were asked for a photo.
Later, Molly looked for Tim again. She learned from John that they didn’t have a guest named Tim. The group photo she had only showed a blank space on her side. Molly later packed her bag to join Alan.
Sam also came to the party to give her a gift. It contained a needle to draw Molly’s blood samples. When she tried to examine it, some armed men went to her office to check for some “chemical leak.” She became suspicious enough that she texted Molly. She was accompanied by John to look for Molly. The episode ended with Molly getting out of Alan’s car while armed men went to do a full search in their home.
