Millions of viewers tuned in to MTV for their latest comedy TV series premiere, “Faking It.” The pilot episode of the first season of the show titled “The Real Thing” was a success!
Two best friends, Amy and Karma pretend to be lesbians and lovers for popularity. The start of the episode begins with Karma’s morning phone call to Amy asking how blind people get dressed. Karma pretends to be blind by blindfolding her eyes and Amy guiding her as they walk on school grounds. You see, their school is different from the rest of the schools in the whole of America. Their high school is tolerant and accepting of outcasts and in fact, outcasts are the “in” crowd.”
Lauren, your typical blonde cheerleader teenage girl was introduced as well. However, since their high school is very different, they don’t worship the likes of Lauren unlike in other schools where having Lauren’s physical attributes take you the to the top of the popularity ladder and probably has a hot football player boyfriend. Everyone just laughs at her but she was the first one who accused Amy and Karma as lesbians and Liam and Shane overheard this remark and laughed at it. Shane is gay while Liam is his best friend, who’s so hot and straight, by the way.
Karma is obviously is smitten when she sees Liam and thanks to Lauren’s remark about their “sexuality,” they got invited to Shane’s super cool party happening that night.
So, they all went to the party where Karma threw up on Liam. While Shane berates Amy about her sexuality, which Amy denies because she is really not a lesbian. However, Shane is so overjoyed to have finally met someone gay like him and he thinks that Amy is just closeted and afraid to come out. So, thinking that he’s doing her a favor, he grabbed Amy and Karma away from the crowd to catch the crowd’s attention and announced right then and there that the two are lesbians.
After the party, Amy wants to clear up everything that happened because she’s really not gay. As for Karma, she’s determined to keep up the whole charade using it to score points to get Liam. She thinks that she is 10 times hotter now that she’s unavailable and Liam and Karma flirted at the party. Karma and Liam kissed, which Amy caught and we all saw that heartbroken look on her face.
Amy begs Karma to end the lies but Karma doesn’t want to so Amy breaks up with her best friend. During the whole argument, they didn’t notice Lauren eavesdropping and this has confirmed our suspicions, all high schools have their own mean girl, and we have Lauren right here to play that part.
Karma is so heartbroken by everything that happened between her and Amy that she told Liam all about it. Karma later on finds Amy up the roof and there she apologizes to Amy, telling her that she only wanted to play along because it was her only chance at being anything other than ordinary. However, Amy will do anything for Karma and she proved that pretty well during the pep rally.
The pep rally almost turned into a huge problem when Lauren grabbed the mic and told the whole student body that Amy and Karma are really not lesbians. But, since Amy is willing to do anything for Karma, she kissed Karma in front of the whole school. And judging from the looks on Karma and Amy’s faces, Karma is happy about it because things just got real and they have sealed the truth about their sexuality. And that’s what she wants, right? However, for Amy, it’s different because for her everything is REAL.
Uh-oh, looks like it’s going to be a love triangle but not after Liam, though…
