Ever since last year, rumors regarding the confirmed second season of the FX crime series “Fargo” have recently been making the rounds with upcoming cast choices and new characters, which fans and viewers will be seeing in a brand-new story come this fall.
According to TV Line,new important characters have been cast, leaving fans excited as to what to expect in the second season. Moreover, a brand-new storyline will serve as a prequel and will revolve around Lou Solverson, a Minnesota State Patrolman who will be portrayed by Patrick Wilson. This character was portrayed in the first season by Keith Carradine. Lou is the father of Officer Molly Solverson (Allison Thomsen). In this season, Lou is a devoted husband and father and a good patrolman, after returning from the Navy four years ago.
Furthermore, the second season will find Lou investigating a case with ties to the mob, particularly the Gerhardt Family, which was currently being led by matriarch Floyd Gerhardt. He will be aided by his father-in-law, Sheriff Hank Larsson. Along the way, they realize that the picture is much bigger than it really is. Within everything, some family drama will ensue, as it will also feature the Gerhadt brothers, and a rival mob family will also come into play. Floyd will go against Joe Bulo, a front man for another syndicate, who is looking to expand their territory.
Meanwhile, Hank Larrson will be portrayed by Ted Danson, and Floyd Gerhardt will be portrayed by Jean Smart. Jeffrey Donovan will portray the oldest Gerhardt boy, Dodd, who is eager to take over the family “business.” Angus Sampson will portray the decent Bear Gerhardt, while Kieran Culkin will portray the “all talk but no action” Rye Gerhardt, the youngest son. Joe Bulo will be portrayed by Brad Garrett, and his number two, Mike, will be portrayed by Bokeem Woodbine.
Also included in the amazing line up is Kirsten Dunst, who will portray the beautician Peggy Blomquis. Her husband Ed will be portrayed by Jesse Plemons. There will also be a town lawyer named Karl Weathers, who will be portrayed by Nick Offerman.
As the setting of the second season will be in the 1970s, John Landgraf, the CEO of FX Networks, recently announced during the Television Critics Association winter press tour that then presidential candidate Ronald Reagan will be a character that will have to be cast, as his movies and his character will interact with the residents of Fargo. Feminism will also be another issue that will be addressed in the second season, as they will be having some strong and significant female characters.
