Vin Diesel had earlier confirmed that the global fans who are eagerly waiting for the release of “Fast and Furious 8,” need to wait till April 2017. Although there are only a few updates on the new and returning characters for the next installment, as far as the reprising of action star Jason Statham is concerned, some reports claim that he is going to make his appearance for the second time in the franchise history.
According to Christian Today, “The Expendables” franchise star Statham’s name has appeared on the IMDB’s credited cast list. This confirms that the action hero will be back in “Fast and Furious 8” as Deckard Shaw. In the seventh installment, he played the role of a villain who sought vengeance after the independent specialist team took down his brother, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).
However, as far as Statham’s returning in “Fast and Furious 8” is concerned, no confirmation has been there yet whether or not he will be the main villain or antagonist or a supporting role to continue the storyline.
The other confirmed cast members are Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Ludacris. A few days back, the news circulated that Helen Mirren and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone would be joining the cast of “Fast and Furious 8,” but their names are yet to be added in the IMDB list.
During the production of “Furious 7,” the team lost Paul Walker in a severe road accident. But thanks to the huge contribution of CGI effect, his presence was felt in the movie. Even it was previously rumored that his character, Brian O’Conner would still be in the eighth installment.
“I can’t tell you yet, but he won’t be in the film as a performer, as an actor, the way we did it last time. It will still be ‘Fast and Furious,’ it will just be without Paul,” Ron Meyer, the Vice Chairman, NBC Universal said in a recent interview with Variety.
