“Fast & Furious 8” is gearing up for its 2017 release, as Jason Statham confirms that he will be reprising his role as Deckard Shaw in the sequel while Vin Diesel responds to Helen Mirren’s desire to join the upcoming movie. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“Furious 8” will see the return of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). While the plot of the upcoming sequel to “Furious 7” remains unknown, Jason Statham has shed some light into what may come next for Dom and the rest of the team.
Statham recently confirmed that he will be joining the cast of “Fast & Furious 8” and he will be reprising his role as Deckard Shaw, ComicBook.com reported.
“We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party on this last one. It is nice to know I’ll be doing another,” he said.
Statham’s role was that of the villain in the latest installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise. While Shaw was locked in at the end of the movie, he promised Hobbs that he will escape and seek revenge.
Statham’s recent confirmation about his involvement in “Furious 8” has led to many speculations among fans of the franchise, including some who believe that Statham will only be one of the many villains in the sequel.
It looks like some of the fans’ theories are right, however, as Vin Diesel has recently responded to Academy Award winner Helen Mirren’s wishes to star in FF8 as the villain.
“Of course I would! Who wouldn’t? It’s Helen. Amazing. Tell her I said so,” Diesel told Access Hollywood.
“Fast and Furious 8” premieres on April 14, 2017. Stay tuned on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates.
