“Fast & Furious 8” is still over a year before it hits off in theatres, but the action-packed movie is already gearing up for more than just high-speed car racing. Recent reports claim that Eva Mendes will be reprising her role in the “Furious 7” sequel and will come in between Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz. Diesel recently announced that a sequel to the record-breaking “Furious 7” is already in the works during the CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Diesel confirmed that “Fast & Furious 8” will be released in cinemas on Apr. 14, 2017.
While fans are already gearing up for yet another high-speed car racing in the upcoming “Fast and Furious” installment, rumor has it that Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez) will have a rift in their relationship. Youth Health Mag cited that Eva Mendes, who has previously appeared in “2 Fast 2 Furious” as Monica Fuentes, will be reprising her role in “Furious 8.”
The 41-year-old actress also appeared in the post-credits of “Fast Five.” Her character was seen confirming to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, that Letty is still alive. Her appearance in the 2011 movie seemingly hints that Mendes’ character will somehow get in between Dom and Letty in the upcoming installment.
Paul Walker’s brother, Cody, who filled in for him as Brian O’Conner in “Furious 7.” He is also rumored to star in the sequel as a brand new character. Jason Statham has also hinted that he is open to reprising his role as Deckard Shaw in “Furious 8,” but only if the company decides to go through with it.
While these are all mere speculations as of the moment, new faces will be joining returning cast members in “Fast and Furious 8.” Mixed martial artist Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been recently confirmed as a new cast member. Christian Today reported Jedrzejczyk will star alongside fellow UFC star Ronda Rousey.
