Neal H Moritz, the producer of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, expressed his concerns about making the next one in the row, “Fast and Furious 8,” match up to expectations and emotions without the incredible Paul Walker. Will “Furious 8” be able to live up to the fans’ expectations? Read on for the complete scoop.
“It’s been a long day without you my friend, I will tell you all about it when I see you again.”
It still gives us goosebumps, doesn’t it? That’s the magic of “Fast and Furious.” The fans and followers are glued to them emotionally thanks to its wonderful cast, storyline and of course, its luxurious and fancy cars.
While the whole world was eagerly waiting for “Furious 7,” the man who was seen to rule speed, succumbed to it on the tragic day of Nov. 30, 2013, and the world has lost Paul Walker forever. It was hard to make “Fast and Furious 7” palatable for the audience without Paul Walker. The franchise strategically and successfully modified the flick to pay tribute to Walker in a way, which led the movie to surpass all previous “Fast and Furious” records.
The team is now buckling up to work on its next baby. The idea of keeping the character of Brian O’ Connor alive and immortal was highly appreciated in part 7. But, creating an all-new gig as moving as the ones so far, without Walker would require some serious thinking.
The producer said that they follow a character-centric approach for the progress of the plot.
“But the thing that people really relate to the most is the characters. We’re lucky that we have a lot of great characters. Unfortunately, we don’t have Paul anymore,” the producer explained.
Universal Chairman Donna Langley suggested that the franchise took a great hit losing Walker and that casting was one of the most crucial factors in “The Fast and the Furious” universe, reported International Business Times.
“Fast and Furious 8” premieres on April 14, 2017. Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be reprising their roles. Other cast members have yet to be announced.
