We’ve had seven installments in the “Fast and Furious” franchise until now and currently the eighth installment is being planned with an intent of making ninth and tenth installment too. What if we were to tell you that apart from his humongous line up, there are other prequels and spinoffs that are also in consideration.
According to Independent, Vin Diesel has revealed that the team behind the adrenaline high franchise is also planning to make many other prequels and spin-offs in the franchise. It was because this is one franchise that happens to be a hot property and since he and his associates have been acquainted with the franchise for a very long time, they know just how they will make it classy.
Talking about the preparations for the said projects, Diesel added that they have written out story lines for characters however was not able to confirm which characters will be getting their own standalone films.
Amongst the favorite characters who could probably get their own solo films is Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. Hobbs was initially against Dom but eventually teamed up with him in “Furious 6” and “Furious 7.” The former wrestler also expressed interest in making a solo movie for Luke Hobbs so that the character could be explored more.
Once the line-up of movies is in order Universal will have its own gigantic Cinematic Universe just like the one Marvel and DC has at the moment. Also with movies in “Fast and Furious” franchise increasing, fans would get to see a whole lot from Diesel alone.
Philly.com added that in order to bring forward a tone that will be different from the previous adventures in “Fast and Furious” franchise, director of “Straight Outta Compton” director F. Gary Gray has been brought in to direct the eighth installment. “Furious 8” will release on Apr. 14th 2017.
