In the trailer for Fate of the Furious, fans saw Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson driving a jeep unlike his contemporaries who are all rocking Lamborghinis and Corvettes.

In an interview, the former wrestler finally revealed the reason why his character, Agent Luke Hobbs, does not drive any of the fast cars that have become staples in the franchise.

The Rock Needs More Space

The Rock is one big guy. In fact, he is so big that he cannot fit into those cool cars that Tyrese Gibson drives in the movies.

Speaking to Today to promote the eighth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, the actor talked about why he is always given trucks to drive. According to the 44-year-old, his muscle just cannot fit into those luxury fast cars.

“I just can’t fit in it, that’s the thing,” he stated. “All the other guys can fit in it because they’re all small.”

The actor also talked about the action scenes, including one dangerous stunt wherein his character slid on the ice and redirected the torpedo. While the movie employs stunt doubles, Johnson insisted that he do the stunt. As he recounted, he really did glide on ice while hanging on to a speeding vehicle to kick the torpedo away.

The Rock’s Real-Life Beef With Vin Diesel

In other news, Johnson has finally addressed rumors that he and co-star Vin Diesel had an off-screen feud while filming Fate of the Furious. To recall, in a post on Instagram, The Rock ranted about an unprofessional co-worker. Read about the beginning of the dispute here.

While Johnson did not name which co-star the post was directed at, some publications assumed that he was referring to Diesel. The xXx actor was allegedly difficult to work with.

Universal insisted that the two have patched things up, but their feud was said to have been reignited when the press tours began. The conflict has become so serious that reports claim that they are being kept apart.

However, during the premiere of his new movie in New York, Johnson talked to Entertainment Tonight to clear up the rumors. While the actor did not refute the alleged feud, he did clarify that he and his co-star are all good now.

Johnson insisted that he focused on just making a good movie for the fans. “Eventually, I think all of the other stuff kind of just has a way of working itself out.”

The site also confronted Diesel during the premiere of Fate of the Furious. The actor who plays the role Dominic Torreto said he and Johnson are still quite close despite the alleged feud. Diesel revealed that, in his house, Johnson is still “Uncle Dwayne.”

In fact, the 49-year-old recalled that when he was making the difficult decision of whether to make the eighth installment, he phoned Johnson. Aside from being an actor, Diesel also sits as the movie’s producer.

Diesel recounted what Johnson told him. “Brother, I will be there shoulder to shoulder with you to make sure it’s the best movie in history,” Johnson said, according to Diesel.

Fate of the Furious Movie Details

If the feud was, indeed, real, then it ought to help the on-screen drama between their characters Hobbs and Dom. In Fate of the Furious, Dom is seduced into the life of crime by notorious cyberterrorist named Cipher (Charlize Theron). In the process, he abandons his family including his new wife Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).

The high-octane chase to bring Cipher to justice will bring Hobbs and the team from the streets of New York to the shores of Cuba and the frozen plains of the Barents Sea. Fate of the Furious will be released on April 14 in theaters worldwide.
