As he moves on after his break up with his high school sweetheart Violette Komyshan, Ansel Elgort seems to be lying low on love life for now. But as a result, people have been asking if he’s turned into a gay. Now, Elgort makes a stand.
In his Twitter account on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, Elgort tweeted two messages in response to the rumors of him becoming gay.
Also let me say if I was gay I wouldn't hide it. Being gay or straight isn't bad or good it just IS. U are who you are. Be true to yourself.
— Ansel Elgort (@AnselElgort) December 18, 2014
Almost instantly, Elgort’s tweets became a big hit among his 2.36 million followers. As of Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, both tweets have been retweeted 12,000 times. The first tweet has been liked by 39,000 people, most probably by his many fan girls. The second tweet, on the other hand, garnered 26,000 likes.
Elgort met his ex-girlfriend Komyshan while they were both attending LaGuardia High School in New York. They first went public as a couple in June 2014 at the Valentino show for Menswear Fashion Week in Paris. However, the two eventually broke up months later in August.
According to Us Weekly, they reportedly broke up due to Elgort’s increasingly hectic schedule.
The insider also added that their “young love” was not strong enough to stop their eventual breakup.
After his breakup, Elgort has been linked to many celebrities. This included Shailene Woodley, his co-star in “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Divergent” movies, as well as its sequel “Insurgent” set for release in March next year. Another celebrity romantically linked to him was singer Taylor Swift, as they were seen together at the AMAS 2014.
