The best-selling erotic novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” also seems to be the best-selling R-rated film this 2015. Even before its scheduled release date, the film has already earned a whopping $1 million. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is a movie about a girl named Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) who meets the handsome billionaire, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), and discovers his dark, brooding personality and interests behind his pretty face. And while the novel and movie have received criticisms about the story’s message, fans are already too excited to watch the movie.
The movie is set for a Valentine’s Day release, but as early as January, the film is already one of the fastest selling R-rated titles in Fandango.
According to the outlet, the film has already surpassed “Sex and the City 2,” which was titled as the fastest selling R-rated title next to “Hangover” and “Gone Girl.”
The movie has also made Seattle’s Escala apartment famous. According to Standard, women have started flocking the hotel where the fictional Christian Grey resides. The Edgewater has launched a “No Grey Area” package worth $14, 169, which offers its customers the “Anastasia Steele” experience with a helicopter tour, champagne, use of Audi R8 Spyder and Kama Sutra. The package doesn’t come with a real-life Christian Grey, though.
As if the ticket sales and hotel package weren’t enough to prove how much fans are eagerly awaiting for the movie, the Vermont Teddy Bear company is also offering fans a “Fifty Shades of Grey” bear. The company claims that the bear is enough to make a girl “desperate to get close” with its smoldering Grey eyes and the infamous Christian Grey silver tie. The bear is also holding a black mask in one hand and handcuffs in the other.
Its early success is also proven with Johnson’s cover for Vogue’s February issue. Johnson channels her inner Anastasia Steele as she teases fans with a demure and vulnerable yet sexy look while posing for the camera.
