The fantasy drama HBO series “Games of Thrones” is simply loved by all. The Emmy Award received series has turned out to be the most pirated series of the year and this is not for the first time, it’s the fourth time in a row. It is speculated that “Games of Thrones” has a figure of 14.4 million downloads of its finale episode which is actually double what it was last year.
According to CBS News, it was Torrent Freak that monitors the file sharing and tracks piracy reportedly said that “Games of Thrones” tops the list this year too.
It is further stated that the maximum downloads happened at the start of the show and within the first week. The figure that was around 8.1 million up till last year converted to 14.4 million illegal downloads, which is nearly the double.
There has been no doubt about the popularity of the series but the figures indicate a big shift in the traditional television viewership. There is a big change in the TV watching habit of the audiences and it has changed a lot over a period of time.
The traditional viewership has been changed a lot and the piracy download figure is a big indication of that. The number is certainly exceeded by the total number of traditional viewers in all aspects.
The list is followed by many other popular series including “The Walking Dead” of AMC (6.9 million download), “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS (4.4 million download), CW’s “Arrow” (3.9 million download) and “The Flash” (3.6 million download) as reported by Make of use.
