If you enjoy watching the popular and highly hilarious “Lip Sync Battle” sketch from Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show,” you’ll be excited to know that it will soon become a full-fledged competition series for Spike TV. Who will the host of the competition series? Read on for more details.
Rolling Stone announced the originators of the sketch Stephen Merchant, John Krasinski and Jimmy Fallon have all signed with Spike TV to produce and even perform on the show. It will be directed by “Saturday Night Live” Beth McCarthy-Miller.
After the announcement of the much-loved segment from the show, AV Club revealed that actor/rapper LL Cool J will be the full-time host. When the competition starts in April 2, 2015, he will be taking over duties as the host of the show.
“Like the rest of the world, I’m a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level,” the actor said in the AV Club article.
LL Cool J has expressed how thrilled he is to be part of the team. Apart from being the host, he also serves as a producer of the show. This is the rapper’s second steady gig on TV. LL Cool J is also a regular cast on the hit TV series “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
When the competition series was announced, many took to express how excited they were about the sketch.
“Lip sync battling is one of the coolest things happening in pop culture right now and already has a huge fan base thanks to the amazing talent involved,” Viacom Entertainment Group Casey Patterson said.
With trending lip sync performances such as Emma Stone, Paul Rudd, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Stephen Merchant, it’s only a matter of time before the show launches and becomes a hit with the public.
