One of the most exciting things about creating a television show these past few years is that one doesn’t need to stick to a television show to create a good series. In the upcoming year, one of the most anticipated shows, with a stellar cast and an interesting premise is “The Path,” which will debut on March 30, 2016. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for Hulu’s “The Path”.
“The Path,” a Hulu original series, according to Variety and Entertainment Weekly, centers around Eddie Lane (Aaron Paul), a father and a convert to the Meyerist Movement, who begins to experience a crisis in faith.
However, things become complicated as the series attempts to probe into the inner workings of a cult, and the dynamics of power and relationships within the cult, especially between Eddie, his wife, an important member of the cult, and the cult’s charismatic leader.
One picture that was shared on both publications is one of Hugh Dancy’s Cal Roberts, with the “unofficial leader” of the cult standing in front of a screen with a projected image at his back.
Another picture featured on Entertainment Weekly shows Sarah Lane (Michelle Monaghan) with her husband and other members of the cult, wearing colorful cloth scapulars.
Other pictures that were shared on Variety include Eddie looking troubled while inside his car; Sarah raising her hands in the air with other cultists; and the couple receiving what looks like a couple’s encounter or session. Other characters were introduced in the pictures as well.
Detective Abe Gaines (Rockmond Dunbar) is seen in his office; and a picture of Sarah Jones as Alison Kemp, a cult member who defected, was also released.
In contrast to Jones’ Kemp is Emma Grenwell’s Mary Cox, an addict that found salvation in Cal and in the Meyerist Movement.
The last picture that was released featured Kyle Allen as Eddie’s and Sarah’s Meyerist son, Hawk; and Amy Foryth, who portrays Ashley Fields, a classmate of Eddie’s who is not part of the Meyerist Movement.
Aside from this, the main cast members, Dancy, Monaghan, and Paul are all ecstatic about the series.
Dancy mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that viewers can look forward to the fact that the series has many twists and turns that will keep one guessing until the very end.
Monaghan calls herself “blessed” to have been part of the series, while Paul touts is as some of the “best” that he’s ever seen, which was why he agreed to take on the project in the first place.
