The Playstation Network (PSN) has released the teaser to its first ever original series “Powers.” The show is based on the comic book penned by Brian Michael Brandis. It will be available for streaming on the gaming console this coming December. Read on for the details.

The teaser to “Powers” from PSN was first shown at the New York Comic-Con event, which happened last Oct. 11, 2014. Since the show won’t be airing on network television and it’s free from any constraints usually set on any regular broadcast series, those present at the conference were advised beforehand that the “Powers” would have an R-rated content, notwithstanding its teasers.

The short clip does have mature language and graphic images that may not be safe for watching at work or with minors around. You can view the video by scrolling down below.

It starts off with Christian Walker (played by Shalrto Copley) narrating how he used to have powers, until someone took this away from him, and so he was given a badge. He implied that this badge was pretty useless. Then the teaser showed the villain Wolfe (played by Eddie Izzard) suggesting something to Walker about his father. We also see Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) being introduced and welcomed into the force to teach Walker something about being a police investigator, which was followed by a montage of scenes showing different people with abilities and someone taunting Walker about being powerless. There’s also one scene showing Walker losing it and punching the window of a car, crashing the glass, to which Pilgrim deadpans that the car door is actually unlocked.

According to fan feedback, the characterization is spot on, and the feel of the scenes really follows the comic book it was based from, but Brandis also noted, in the same panel in New York, that the show will not have a direct translation of the comics. In fact, much of the story will be very different in the TV show, so fans should expect to see a variation from the book.

That’s the scoop on PSN releasing the first teaser to “Powers,” the very first original series that will be streaming on the Playstation console by December. It will be made available to subscribers of the gaming console only.
