Open Road Films has brought online the first trailer for “A Haunted House 2”, the sequel to January’s A Haunted House.
The new installment stars Marlon Wayans as Malcolm, who, after exorcising the demons of his ex, moves into another haunted house with his new girlfriend (Jaime Pressly) and her two kids. And this time again, Malcolm is plagued by bizarre paranormal events.
A Haunted House 2 also features Gabriel Iglesias, Atkins and Cedric the Entertainer and will pick up the events of the first movie employing the same original movie’s Paranormal Activity-inspired footage style.
The original film, which premiered in January of this year, was a hilarious box-office hit since it grossed nearly $60 million worldwide with a budget of just $2.5 million. With such a massive box office take, news of the sequel came as no surprise when it was announced back in April by the Open Road Films CEO Tom Ortenberg.
However the original film was met with mostly negative reviews and could hold a measly 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I happened to see A Haunted House just a couple of months ago, and I would be straightforward to say that I really didn’t like it. And now, this first trailer for the follow-up to the last year’s movie is really Painfully Unfunny (as said by FirstShowing) and I have no plans to see the sequel in the theater.
The film is set to hit theaters on March 28, 2014.
