Live the movie in the first trailer for ‘world’s first first-person-shooter’ film “Hardcore.” Gatling guns, exploding heads, a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, “Hardcore” has everything you could possibly imagine, and so much more. Read on for the trailer after this break
Twitch Film’s Ryland Eldritch thinks “Hardcore” is going to twist your balls off, and having seen the trailer, we have to agree. “Hardcore” is not a movie, it is a totally insane video-game first-person-shooter that you watch in a theater. Embracing point, shoot, explode pattern of “Doom,” the film’s trailer has the audience jumping from helicopters, getting shot in hair-raising-ly gory ways, and dealing more destruction in 2:26 minutes than the entire run-time of “Godzilla.” ‘it is of course, glaringly NSFW, but that is the best part about it.
The film is currently playing at the Toronto International Film Festival, to rave reviews. And how could it not, for a movie whose official synopsis is:
“You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry and congratulations, you’re now a cyborg. 5 minutes later, your wife has been kidnapped and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), he’s just a psychotic megalomaniac with telekinetic powers, and a never-ending army of mercenaries. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, Russia and everyone wants you dead. Everyone, except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He might be on your side. Good luck Henry. You’re very much likely to need it…”
The movie is directed by Ilya Naushuller, who came to executive producer Timur Bekmambetov’s (Wanted) eye with the short film “Bad Motherfu*ker”, which is also shot in a whirlwind FPS point of view, Empire is reporting.
The film stars Sharlto Copley, Haley Bennett and Danila Kozlovsky. The second best thing about it is perhaps that the main character, ‘Henry’, is played by YOU, albeit a hacking, shooting, mass-murdering version of you. There is no word on when the film hits theaters yet.
