The sequel of the much-beloved movie is well underway, and before we get lost in the voices, let us count down five awesome facts about “Pitch Perfect 2.”
- The Barden Bellas are going international.
The Bellas will be showing their skills to the world as they join International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), where “no American team has ever won” according to a cappella officials. The best a cappella groups around the world will compete, and we have to find out if the Bellas will dominate the world.
- Kristen Wiig was considered for a role.
The “Saturday Night Live” star and the woman with the famous dance moves at the Grammys was originally offered a role as Gail Abernathy-McKadden. Elizabeth Banks from “The Hunger Games” got the role instead, and she is now back in “Pitch Perfect 2” as a commentator at the ICCA.
- Elizabeth Banks is the director of “Pitch Perfect 2.”
That’s right, the former Minstrel Cycles singer and ICCA commentator is “Pitch Perfect 2’s” director. “Pitch Perfect 2” is Banks debut as a helmer.
“It’s like my little baby,” Banks told ET in an interview.
- New cast members were added.
Aside from our beloved characters from the first movie, new interesting cast members were added in the sequel. “General Hospital’s” Chrissie Fit was added to the cast in April 2014 and on May 1, 2014, “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld was added as a new member of the Barden Bellas. Katey Sagal from “Married With Children” also stars as Steinfeld’s mother. Another new character is the German DJ, Flula Borg, who plays the leader of Das Sound Machine, a competitor in the ICCA. “Insurgent” actor Christopher Shepard and Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen were also added as new characters in the movie.
- An actual a cappella groups joins the fun.
- “Cups” is back.
The epic “Pitch Perfect” song “Cups” is back, and this time, the Bellas will sing it together. The song is also Anna Kendrick’s first top 10 song in the Billboards, and it remained in the Hot 100’s chart for weeks. The version sang by Kendrick is a cover of Lulu and the Lampshade’s version of 1928 song “When I’m Gone” by The Carter Family.
