Five Nights At Freddy’s has triggered an online debate over the toxic attitude of its fan base.
Debate over the behavior of Five Nights At Freddy’s fans has hit a new high with some demanding a ban on them. Developer Scott Cawthon explained his side on Steam Community forum. He says calling the entire fan base toxic is an ‘unfair generalization’. He added every fan base has a huge variety of ages, opinions, and maturities.
Some fans recently got together and started accepting donations for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and raised over $1,000 in the first hour. Last year, $257,000 was raised during a charity stream.
Scott also accepts that there is a ‘dark under belly’ of Five Nights At Freddy’s, where bad fan art and fan fiction can be found. This should not affect the majority of awesome members. Cult titles usually face such back lash on forums. No Man’s Sky forum was closed on Reddit to curb the toxicity.
A new custom update is on the way – Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location Custom Night update. Ballora, Bidybab and Funtime Freddy are returning for the update. The update will not have any interference with the main plot lines and has been added in the extras menu. Players can adjust the level of difficulty using the Custom Night mode. New game mechanics and characters are expected to be included in the update.
To unlock the update, players have to get a three-stars ranking. The update was expected to arrive for Halloween but now it will release in December.
Kira Breed-Wisley and Scott Cawthon have also released a young-adult paperback, Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Silver Eyes.
