Sometimes, it seems that just when things are going great, the universe decides to pull the rug from underneath a person, or a character. This time around, it seems as is the Reverse -Flash Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) was right in saying that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) might not ever be truly happy, especially with the events that will be unfolding for him at the beginning of 2016. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for the next two upcoming episodes of “The Flash,” and for this season’s Christmas episode.

Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) Christmas was definitely a memorable one as the team, sans Barry, worked together to foil the plot of the Trickster (Mark Hamill) and the Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre).

Aside from this, Iris West (Candice Patton) revealed to her father, Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) about the existence of her brother, Wally West (Keinyan Lonsdale), who later showed up at their house.

However, based on the trailer for the upcoming episode, “Potential Energy,” on the official website of CW, it seems like Barry will not be having a great new year at all.

As per the trailer, Barry, after asking advice from Iris about revealing his true identity to Detective Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten), will make a bold attempt to do so, despite being warned by Earth Two’s Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) that this will only make her a target for Zoom.

Wells’ warnings will prove to be true, though, as Patty, just before Barry reveals his identity as The Flash to her, will get kidnapped, and will be placed in grave danger.

The episode after that, which, according to Entertainment Weekly, will be entitled “The Return of the Reverse-Flash,” will see the return of Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) into Barry’s life.

Executive producer Todd Helbing told Entertainment Weekly that his return will cause someone from Team Flash to be placed in mortal danger, causing Barry to make a “life changing decision.”

Now, as Earth One’s Reverse-Flash had been erased from history in the first season finale, many are speculating that this iteration of the character will be the Earth Two version of the character.

Do you think this Reverse-Flash is the Earth Two version? What do you think will happen to Patty Spivot? How do you think she will react after discovering Barry Allen’s secret? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
