Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with a man, Ronnie Morgon (Johnny Harris), being hacked and beaten to death in a small room.
Meanwhile, Liam Sutter (Darwin Brokenbro) was allowed to return home. As soon as they arrived, they discovered that someone had painted “Monster” on their wall. While Jules Sutter (Jessica Raine) took care of Liam inside, Frank Sutter (Nicholas Pinnock) entered their empty neighbors’ house, where he beat Markus Husseklep (Darren Boyd), and told him to get ready to tell him the truth. However, Markus, throughout the torture that Frank inflicted on him, insisted that he was innocent. However, Liam’s own fate rested in the hands of Governor Hildegard “Hilda” Odegard (Sofie Grabol), as Liam had killed Professor Charlie Stoddard (Christopher Eccleston).
At the Research Center, Natalie Yelburn (Sienna Guillory) told Vincent Rattrey (Luke Treadaway) that the current batch of reindeers were beginning to become hermaphrodites, which, according to the legends, only happened when a demon living in the herd mates with them. Afterwards, Vincent, who was ordered in a letter from the Professor to examine a polar bear, discovered a high amount of toxins in the bear, which caused it to become psychotic and cannibalistic.
Meanwhile, Detective Chief Inspector Eugene Morton (Stanley Tucci) had no luck in figuring out in the supermarket as to who bought every round of the bullet he had been given to examine.
Elena Ledesma (Veronica Echegui) then told Sheriff Dan Anderssen (Richard Dormer) that she would be taking care of Carrie Morgan (Elizabeth Dormer-Philips), and that she would stay with Carrie in her house.
Both Jules and Frank were informed by Hilda and Dan that they would undergo psychological assessments in order to understand why Liam killed Professor Stoddart. Henry Tyson (Michael Gambon), then passed by while Frank wasn’t there, and gave Liam the tupilaq. As he did so, Liam, who had been unresponsive, reached for it.
Back at the laboratory, Vincent and Natalie related their findings to the governor and Dan, and asked permission to examine Shirley’s brain to see if she also had the same amount of toxins as the bear.
As they performed the examination, Natalie became highly emotional, and Vincent hugged her to comfort her.
Back at the police station, Dan caught Morton taking a look at the evidence found on Billy Pettigrew. Morton wondered out loud why Pettigrew hadn’t been carrying a gun, or why he had been dressed up so lightly as he had been a trained geologist.
After Morton left, Henry visited Dan, and made his last goodbye to him, saying that he was going to end things on his terms. He then went outside the boundaries of the town, into the wild, and made camp out there, with his camera, and a pistol.
Morton, who had found a receipt of Pettigrew’s from the taxidermist, learned that Henry wasn’t coming back and that Pettigrew wanted an arctic hare stuffed. Afterwards, Morton entered Henry’s home, and discovered the picture of Pettigrew’s arm handcuffed to a rail.
Back at the Sutter house, Frank, appalled at the tupilaq threw it away as it started to bleed. However, this caused Liam to throw a tantrum.
Meanwhile, Hilda, who was informed that her hotel project wouldn’t proceed as planned, broke things off with her husband, and went with Dan to the Research Center, where Vincent asked if he could do a spinal tap on Liam in order to see if he also had the same toxins in his body. Hilda then agreed to have it done if Liam’s parents agreed to it.
Back at the Sutter household, Jules discovered that Frank had been torturing Markus, untied Markus’ hands, and ordered Frank to stop. She then comforted him, and brought him back home.
Meanwhile, Dan informed Elena that only Ronnie’s glove had been found. However, inside the biler room of the Morgan house, Ronnie, barely alive, gasped for air.
