Have you ever asked yourself where there is such a thing as too much Batman? Well, we are about to find out with DC rumored to be making four new movies of the caped crusader to be released in 2019.

Yes Batfans, you’re not dreaming, FOUR new movies centered on Bruce Wayne and the city of Gotham are speculated to hit the big screens. Sounds like a lot of work for our current Bruce Wayne, Ben Affleck.

But whether Affleck wants to star in these films or not, there’s probably no stopping DC and Warner Bros. from cashing in on the big black bat. As the current roster of DCEU films, Bruce Wayne is currently their version of Tony Stark, clocking in more screen time in the DC Extended Universe.

Despite sitting out Man of Steel, Batman pretty much hogged all the screen time in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. With a cameo appearance in the upcoming Wonder Woman film, Justice League, and his own upcoming standalone movie, Affleck will be seen in more films than the rest of the DC heroes.

The Dark Knight is arguably the most popular superhero in the DC franchise. The character has been featured in numerous films and TV shows. However, it was Tim Burton’s 1989 film that ushered in a new era for the franchise. With a career spanning decades, Warner Bros. will not be relinquishing control of this particular cash cow anytime soon.

And with superhero films selling like pancakes, you bet they’ll cash in on the franchise however they can. The DCEU is a bit late to the party but that doesn’t mean they’ll give up in creating a cinematic universe rivaling that of Marvel.

Batman-Related Upcoming Movie Releases Will Focus On The Dark Knight

While films featuring other DC heroes are definitely on the agenda, it seems that Warner Bros. plans to focus heavily on the Dark Knight, according to CinemaBlend. That means more films and spin-offs are set in Gotham than in Atlantis, Themyscira, or Krypton.

With the character’s 80th anniversary in 2019, Warner Bros. is going full throttle with the Batmania. And thanks to the ever watchful people at Reddit, details regarding the upcoming films have been graciously leaked to us.

The Batman Movie Will Feature the Bat Family

According to Movieweb, aside from the upcoming standalone film of the caped crusader The Batman, films featuring the rest of the bat family are also slated for release in 2019. Be warned that these have not been verified by either DC or Warner Bros. so it would be advisable to take this information with a grain of salt.

Redditors said that: “The plan for 2019 is to release four Batman-related films. Gotham City Sirens around Valentine’s Day weekend, Nightwing on Memorial Day weekend, Batgirl in August and The Batman in November. The studio is doing this to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Batman.”

According to the website, the upcoming Batman film will feature Deathstroke. However, they also claim that he will not be playing the main villain contrary against earlier claims and demands fans.

This is actually foreboding and could hint DC’s plans to make a Thanos-esque version of Deathstroke. Of course, that is just one scenario that they could take when developing their own version of the Gotham storyline.

Additionally, the site also mentioned two animated films about the bat in 2019. One of these is rumored to be an adaptation of The Long Halloween. However, due to story delving heavily on the subject of murder, DC will probably step back on it while at the same time learn from the mistakes in The Killing Joke.

Perhaps 2019 will be the day we’ll find out how much Batman the fans can take. Whether this will lead to oversaturation or a new era for the Dark Knight, Warner Bros. is definitely ready to take the risk.
