Another series is crossing over the Atlantic from Britain to America. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the BBC One series “Inside Men” is currently in development under FOX 21 with the help of Richard Price and Howard Gordon. Read on to learn more about the story.
The BBC one-off series was aired in 2012 with only four episodes for its sole season. It was written by Tony Basgallop with direction of James Kent. It starred Steven Mackintosh, Ashley Walters, and Warren Brown as the three employees.
“Inside Men” told the story of three employees of a counting house who decide to plan and pull off a multi million pound heist. The series features multiple points of view, as the show takes a look at each employee, and examines their lives, and the motives that led them to commit the crime.
The U.S. adaptation will also focus on a robbery, and just like the original British series, it will have multiple points of view, and it will have a larger scope.
FOX 21 president Bert Salker told THR that there will definitely be a police element to it, making the scope much larger. The specific crime and case, of course, will be different.
Writer and producer Howard Gordon, known for his works in several TV series such as “The X-Files” (1993), “24” (2001) and “Homeland” (2011), has been wanting to adapt the series ever since the show’s premiere in 2012. He will be an executive producer along with Richard Price, Hugh Fitzpatrick, Jane Tranter, and Tony Basgallop, who wrote the original series.
Richard Price, on the other hand, is a writer known for “The Shield” (2004-2008), and “NYC 22” (2012). He will be writing the script for the series. The show’s original writer, Tony Basgallop, already wrote something for the new adaptation. The initial draft is currently being looked at by Richard Price.
Moreover,t he team has decided to develop the series more, and sell the it to television networks once several scripts, and a bible for the series has been put together.
The American adaptation of the “Inside Men” is being produced by Fox 21, and Howard Gordon’s Teakwood Lane. It will also be co-produced by BBC Worldwide.
