Fox has seen both highs and lows in the superhero genre.

On one hand, they have Deadpool that has proven to be one of the most successful superhero movies ever. On the other hand, they are also known for making Fantastic Four in 2015 which has been considered the worst superhero movie ever.

Now, a report reveals that the studio is planning to develop a new version of their worst movie.

New Fantastic Four being developed

Cosmic Book News reported that if the performance of Fantastic Four at the box office was not enough, the studio is getting its hands dirty once again with that movie.

They are planning a new Fantastic Four movie but with a little alteration. This time, two new members will be seen in the team, Dr. Reed Richards and Sue Storm’s children Franklin and Valeria.

In addition to the children, the movie will also feature the Thing and their uncle Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. The movie is also reported to be more kid-centric.

It is also being reported that the kids’ parents and basically the two primary members of the team will not be a part of the movie. Being described as a movie similar to The Incredibles, it will be written by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Origin of Franklin and Valeria Richards

Both Franklin and Valeria Richards are known to be amongst the most powerful superhero children in the Marvel universe. Given who their parents are, they inherited powers from them.

However, in multiple instances, it has been hinted that Franklin could be the most powerful mutant superhero of all. He possesses reality-warping powers along with molecular alteration and telekinesis.

He is so powerful that he once subconsciously created a pocket universe and formed a virtual replica of Earth-616. His feat attracted the likes of cosmic entities like Galactus, Eternity and Infinity.

Noticing his powers, they even started believing that he is as powerful as the celestials themselves. Valeria, on the other hand, is known to have her mother’s powers.

Though she cannot make herself invisible, she can create force fields. She possesses superhuman strength when she wraps herself with these force fields and can neutralize her brother’s powers.

When she was just a toddler, her father decided to test her intelligence. Turns out when she was just two she was as intelligent as him. By the age of three, Dr. Richards himself confirmed that she had surpassed his intelligence.

Reason to make another Fantastic Four movie

Given that a deal exists between Fox and Marvel, if Fox does not continue making Fantastic Four movies, they will lose its film rights and the franchise will go back to Marvel.

The studio has already lost Daredevil and Ghost Rider. These two heroes’ rights were with them but were reverted back to Marvel.

When Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about getting to see Fantastic Four in the MCU in the near future, he stated that it is not happening but he wo to like to bring back all the characters under Marvel.

Can Fox get it right this time?

Their two attempts at making Fantastic Four movie tanked. The first version starred Chris Evans, Jessica Alba amongst others. It was a commercial success but Rotten Tomatoes only gave it 27%.

A sequel titled Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was also released but it almost had the same fate as its predecessor. Ten years later in 2015, the studio rebooted the franchise with Fantastic Four.

This version starred Miles Teller, Kate Mara amongst others. It proved to be even worse than the previous two. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a score of mere 9% and is considered one of the worst superhero movies ever made.

With the studio now contemplating this new idea, it remains to be seen if they are finally able to make it successful or not. No plot or release date for this new project is known yet.
