President Barack Obama dropped by between two potted ferns for a sit-down interview and to no one’s surprise, to “plug” for Obamacare on “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” in the video Web site Funny or Die on March 11, 2014.
President Obama joins the roster of high-profile celebrities who got interviewed on Zach’s popular Web series. Celebrities who got in the hot seat were Natalie Portman, Sean Penn, Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, James Franco, Amy Adams, Bruce Willis, Tobey Macguire and Samuel L. Jackson.
Zach’s fellow comedians and other well-known personalities in Hollywood were also interviewed including Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and also talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and Conan O’ Brien.
Dubbed as the 19th episode, President Obama’s “Between Two Ferns” interview has 17 million views (and counting) on the official Web site of Funny or Die as of March 16, 2014. It is currently on the second place after Justin Bieber’s “Between Two Ferns” interview which was aired on September 26, 2013 with 18 million views.

Aside from getting a massive number of viewers for his appearance on “Between Two Ferns,” the President’s latest stunt for Obamacare has been overwhelmingly successful.
It isn’t the first time that the 44th President of the United States sought the help of the Internet and the Hollywood celebrities in promotion of Obamacare.
Mother Jones provided a long list of celebrities who have been tapped to promote Obamacare with the use of the #GetCovered hashtag, which includes Scarlett Johansson, Lady Gaga, LeBron James, Katy Perry, Kerry Washington, Kate Bosworth, and Pharell Williams on July 2013.
According to Deadline, it’s not surprising that the 6.5 minute video got negative comments including from host Billy O’Reilly of FOX News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” and Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” featuring Stephen Colbert as the host.

In an article posted on CNN’s Political Tickler page, Mike Farah, president of production at the company and executive producer of “Between Two Ferns,” told CNN he’d always wanted to help in promoting Obamacare since he was one of those who got invited by the White House in July 2013.
Other than the latest “Between Two Ferns” segment featuring President Obama and Zach Galifianakis, the Funny or Die team had previously promoted Obamacare with a “Scandal” parody entitled “Scandalous” starring former “American Idol” contestant Jennifer Hudson.
There’s also the “Obamacare or Shut Up!” video starring Olivia Wilde and Billy Eichner.

It was indeed a mission accomplished for the White House and the entire crew of “Between Two Ferns” as both sides wrote optimistic tweets on the web after the production.
On his personal Twitter account, Mike Farah wrote:
