FX will be releasing three new dramas in 2014 and one of them is “Tyrant.” It is one of the most highly-anticipated TV dramas. The other two dramas include “Fargo” and “The Strain.” One of the best things about “Tyrant” is that it is an original creation by Gideon Raff (“Prisoner Wars”).

Gideon Raff is currently working with executive producers Howard Gordon (“Homeland”) and Craig Wright (“Dirty Sexy Money”) who is also the showrunner to develop a story regarding Bassam Al Fayeed. Fayeed is the second son of the dictator of Baladi who’s been in exile on his own will. He is married to American Molly played by Jennifer Finnigan and they have two teenage kids. Fayeed will be played by Adam Rayner.

Bassam goes by the name “Barry” now and he is a pediatrician in Los Angeles until his life started to change when he heads back to his homeland to attend the wedding of his nephew. This marks his very first visit after 20 years.

The first season of “Tyrant” has 10 episodes and the pilot of the show is directed by David Yates (“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.”). The other episodes of “Tyrant” have reportedly started shooting in Tel Aviv, Israel.

A lot of people are getting pretty excited about “Tyrant” especially when the very first trailer was released. However, the show may need to distinguish itself from other TV shows that involve politics to make its mark. For now, “Tyrant” looks like it’s going to be a huge hit for the FX network in 2014.
