Back in July, we reported on the development of the comedy series “Man Seeking Woman” on FXX. Early this week, the network has announced that the show will begin airing on Wednesday, Jan. 14. 2015, at 10:30 p.m on the cable channel. Read on for more details about “Man Seeking Woman.”
In a press release posted on Zap2it, FXX has announced that its newest comedy series, "Man Seeking Woman," will be debuting early in January. The show stars Jay Baruchel (“How to Train Your Dragon”) as Josh Greenberg, a young and naïve guy on a quest to find love.
As a serial dater, Josh has done it all — one night stands, blind dates, eventful and painful break-ups. He may have also dated sex aliens, done time travel, met a Japanese penis monster and experienced many deaths. It may sound weird, but the show’s take on love actually borders on the surreal and whimsical. In one of the episodes, Josh would actually be set up on a blind date with a troll. He’ll also find out that his ex-girlfriend of many years dumped him for a guy who looks like an older Hitler.
The series also stars Eric Andre (“The Eric Andre Show”), Britt Lower (“Unforgettable”) and Maya Erskin (“Betas”). Andre plays Mike, the best friend, who is a bit confident and daring. Lower plays Liz, the older sister of Josh, who is described as kind of intimidating, while Erskine is Maggie, one of Josh’s ex-girlfriends, and someone he cannot forget.
“Man Seeking Woman” is based on “The Last Girlfriend on Earth,” a short story compilation that is written by Simon Rich. The latter is also the writer of the comedy series, which has a 10-episode order from FXX. Rich also serves as the show’s showrunner and executive producer, along with Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer and Jonathan Krisel.
Filming for the series was set in Toronto, Canada, Baruchel’s home country.
