Galavant Season 1 Premiere Recap
The two-dimensional version of the logo for the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), a nationally-known commercial television network in the United States. Designed by Paul Rand, this logo was used from 1962 until replaced in 2007 by a three-dimensional equivalent, which can be seen here. Finally, “Galavant” has debuted on ABC and it did gallantly, with the whole singing, the execution of the characters and the plot itself.  Read below for the full recap of Episode 1 “Pilot.”

Since it’s a musical TV series, it kicked off with an opening number and we were taken to the root cause of what happened to Galavant and why he’s on a mission to get the queen. So the story is that Madalena married the evil King Richard over Galavant. This is a fact that Galavant chooses to ignore even though his friends kept reminding him this. A fool in love, he got washed his worries away by being a drunken fool (making the fool in love much worse).

He was depressed until he met Isabella, a princess of a different kingdom who asked for his help to rescue her kingdom as it was in the hands of King Richard. Of course, it was just a scheme because Isabella is really working for the king in exchange for her parent’s freedom and all she needs is to have Richard brought to her.

A joust happened as well as a dinner between Madalena and Richard, which was very tenses I could almost taste it in the air and there was also a guest appearance by John Stamos who, unfortunately, didn’t sing and only cracked a few jokes.

In a nutshell, the pilot episode of “Galavant” was okay. I am not a big fan of musicals, but its lightness is a change and a great year opener for the network. It’s positive, fun and just happy!
