“To be or not to be,” was the situation Channing Tatum was in last week when it was reported that his deal with FOX was in jeopardy. According to reports, he was to play the popular “X-Men” mutant Gambit. However, it seemed that he would not be a part of it anymore. Recent updates only come as a relief for those who wanted to see the actor in a superhero character. Read on for more details.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has officially been signed on to play the role of the mutant in the character’s spin-off movie. Last week’s report suggested that Tatum was leaving the “Gambit” movie. It is a movie that Tatum was so passionate about since he had an active participation in the shaping of the movie. However, all of that seems to be in the speculation bin because fans will indeed see the “Magic Mike” actor show his skills as the Cajun mutant. Reports suggest that the actor did hit a very sensitive spot with the makers while discussing the film. When you have negotiations going on at a high level like this, some disagreements are bound to happen. Contrary to early reports, director Rupert Wyatt will not have to look for a leading man and will now have some peace of mind when he actually gets to shoot the film with the actor.
Gambit has the power to use kinetic energy and potentially use the deck of cards that he is often seen with as a lethal weapon. Also known as Remy LeBeau, he was a thief before being discovered by Professor Xavier who helped him turn his life around and make him into a superhero. “Gambit” is the only character after “Wolverine” and “Deadpool” who is getting his solo movie. It will hit theaters next year.
