 Game of Thrones

Lord Stannis’ (Stephen Dillaine) ships are sailing towards King’s Landing. They are under the command of Lord Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), who is his most trusted confidante. Armies of both sides prepare for war. Stannis’ ships outnumber the royal fleet ten to one and his troops are five times that of King Joffrey’s army.

King Joffrey doesn’t know what to do but Lord Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) doesn’t know the meaning of surrender. He said that he is the captain of the ship and he will go down with it. Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) warns the Hand that Stannis has pledged himself to the dark arts and will bring despair to the survivors inside King’s Landing if the walls are breached.

As Davos goes into Blackwater Bay, he is not met by any resistance. His son says that Stannis’ forces have the element of surprise but Davos replies that Lord Varys knows what you had for breakfast three days ago and there’s no surprise at work.

The Battle of Blackwater feels like one of the scenes from Lord of the Rings. But fans are disappointed about the battle. Sue Naegle, HBO’s president of entertainment, said that they started with a budget and they are given the freedom to spend it where they want to. She added that the Battle of Blackwater was one of the moments that they must do right.

Tyrion’s army emerges from a secret tunnel to surprise Stannis’ army but one of his own men slashes him across the face. Before he losses consciousness, he sees his squire spear the assassin and his father Tywin Lannister arrives with the cavalry to save the day.
