Richard Madden recently confirmed he will not reprise Robb Stark in Game of Thrones Season 7. He denied fans’ theories that Robb returns as Lord Stoneheart.
No magic can bring the former King of the North back from the dead. This is what Richard Madden want to confirm with fans, who are still hoping to see Robb Stark appear in the seventh season. They are still holding on to hope that the show will revive the character. Perhaps, they are looking to see another Jon Snow revival happen.
However, Melisandre would already be too far away from the North by the time Game of Thrones Season 7 opens. Likewise, if writers had wanted to bring back Robb then they would have done so earlier in Season 6. They would have brought him back from the dead, before the people crowned Jon Snow as the new King of the North.
So, how could Robb Stark return? One very prominent theory is his return as Lord Stoneheart. He comes back from the dead as the vengeful zombie instead of his mother appearing as Lady Stoneheart.
However, Richard Madden denied he would return as Lord Stoneheart in Game of Thrones Season 7. He told The Hollywood Reporter that as far as he knows, Robb is definitely dead. The showrunners have also not called him to return, which means he may not reprise the character in any form.
Despite Robb’s death, Madden thought the show gave his character a proper send off. Robb Stark had a start, middle and ending to his storyline, which led the show to a far greater purpose.
In the same interview, Richard Madden admitted that he would rather just watch the show now. He does not want to associate himself with the series. And he has also not read George R.R. Martin’s books.
“I kind of forget that I was in it, and just watch it as a TV show now and remember my character as something as separate to me, which is quite odd,” he said.
Will Robb Stark return as Lord Stoneheart in Game of Thrones Season 7? Richard Madden seems certain that he will not be part of the series anymore. However, given what happened to Jon Snow, no one can really say for sure anymore.
